When you are facing a car loss or damage, below are the list of general documents you will need to prepare in order to claim insurance (be it a traffic accident claim or any other cause that is covered in your car insurance policy) or stolen car insurance.

For third party liability
While third party liability insurance is an extension that you can include within your car insurance policy, filing for a claim would require some specific documents, which are:
- Police Report
- Letter of Claim from a third party to the Insured
- Receipt of the cost of repairing damaged property/vehicle
- Offer of repair costs from contractors – for property damage
- Offer repair costs from the repair shop – for car damages
- Original receipt from the Hospital along with cost details and medical records – for third party
- Death certificate for the death of a third party
- All correspondence with third parties (property or vehicle owners or third parties are injured/deceased)
